ABOUT THE POWERFUL PLAY TEACHERS

EMPOWERING EDUCATORS TOGETHER

Welcome to The Powerful Play Teachers – a company co-founded by two teacher besties, Hayley and Katie, who trained together and share a love of play-based learning.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

In our teacher training year, we had one session focused on EYFS. Just one! Guess how many sessions were about continuous provision? Yep, you guessed right – absolutely zero!

Then, all of a sudden, we were faced with our own classes and expected to have a wealth of knowledge.

After starting our own Teachergram pages, we saw hundreds, if not thousands, of teachers in the same situation. This is where The Powerful Play Club comes in. A resource hub and membership club to provide you with the tools, strategies and empowerment you deserve.

Dedicated EYFS & KS1 education professionals with a passion for play-based learning

Hayley Winter

I’m an experienced Early Years Leader and Teacher with over 16 years in education, the majority of which has been spent within the Early Years sector. Throughout my career, I’ve taken on a range of roles that have deepened my passion for child-led, play-based learning.

Alongside my teaching and leadership responsibilities, I support Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) within my school, and I facilitate on the NPQEYL programme.

My core focus is championing the holistic development of young children and promoting the vital role of play in learning. Through my work, I aim to empower educators with confidence in their practice, sharing practical tips, ideas and advice to help you build purposeful, playful and inspiring learning environments.

Katie O’Leary

I’m a Year 1 Teacher and KS1 Leader with over 10 years’ experience working in education settings. The majority of my teaching experience is working with Year 1 which is where my passion for provision-based learning has derived from.

I believe in breaking the mould of the formal KS1 classroom and creating engaging, memorable experiences for the children I teach. Nurturing and supporting teachers gives me a real buzz & I aim to provide easy-to-understand, practical ideas & relevant training to take into your classroom.

A really fantastic bank of resources, the training and planning support is also very comprehensive and useful for the EYFS. I can honestly say that my membership has saved me so much time in creating my own resources.

I really like the impactful inputs for celebrations, I have shared these with my class. I like the resource packs as these are really good to pick and choose what activities would work with my class. The themed bundles are also really useful for continuous provision activities.
Ella, EYFS Teacher
I love the resources and the ‘Guides’ section is so informative! I love it!
Miss C
The display and visuals section has been so handy for me to set up my new classroom this year! I particularly loved the mud kitchen recipe cards for my Reception class.
Becky, EYFS Leader
The inclusion section has been incredible for getting our dysregulated learners to reflect on their choices and develop emotional literacy. We use the resources daily to keep consistent communication between every staff member.
