What To Look For In Continuous Provision Posters

A practical observation and assessment tool designed to help practitioners assess learning within continuous provision, without the need for written observations or additional recording. Each poster highlights six key areas, linking to a curriculum subject, area of provision or play behaviour where it best fits. Suitable for both EYFS and KS1, practitioners can choose the relevant poster and use the six prompts to guide their observations as children play, explore and interact.

As children demonstrate the different skills or behaviours, practitioners can identify what they are seeing and use this to build a picture of children’s learning, development and progress. The posters can also help practitioners recognise strengths, identify gaps and consider where further teaching, resources or challenge may be needed — making assessment a natural part of everyday provision rather than an additional recording task.
